Long Weekend

This long weekend we had the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn by Yorkdale as Jason was coaching at the Provincal Team Selection Camp. We arrived on Friday night and took a subway ride to the hospital to visit G.G. He is in the hospital recovering from surgery.
The kids loved the 'train' ride.

Saturday the kids and I headed down to the pool and to the kids club.

Saturday evening we went to Yorkdale Mall and to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner

Simon hiding from the elephants

On Sunday the kids and I went to the Ontario Science Center for the day. It was so busy there and I was on my own with the kids....I found myself dreaming of owning one of those kiddie leashes that I detest.

Riley in the beaver lodge showing her beaver teeth.

In the evening we went out for dinner with our friend Moira. After dinner we all headed back to the hotel for a swim.

The kids are both so proud that they can float on their backs without any help.

Moira stayed with us and we watched firecrackers from our hotel room, got great massages and even had bedtime stories with Moi.

On Monday the kids and I went to the Toronto Zoo. They loved every minute of it and I was exhusted from pushing that double stroller up and down all of those hills. We had a full day arriving at 9:00 and staying until 4:00.

This is how we all felt at the end of a fantastic and BUSY weekend

Soccer

On Thursday nights Riley is now playing soccer. She was so excited to go and play and maybe even more excited over her new shin pads. Before we left she headed out to the front yard to practice.

We headed off to the highschool in Elmvale for the big game. On the registration form there was a spot for volunteers...I voluntered Jason.....well apparently that means he is coaching. Riley is thrilled to have her daddy as her coach and it so cute to hear her call him coach.

Here's Jason in his first team huddle

Doing drills

Passing the ball

Completely overjoyed to have a soccer jersey

It was a great night! We do have a few little things to 'workout'...like the fact that Riley won't kick the ball at the goalie because "it's not nice to kick a ball at someone."

My favourite things...

Just wanted to share some of my favourite parts of my home with you....of course it's all about our kids.

No more circles!!!

In the past when Simon rode his bike we would spend most of the time going around in circles.....well, he has gotten the hang of the steering thing and happily rides around the block.

Mothers' Day Weekend

A weekend filled with family time, fun, surprises and lots and lots of food....and I didn't have to cook any of it:) The celebration started on Friday evening when Riley, Nee Nee and I headed to a nice restaurant in Barrie called Shirley's. Riley was so well behaved, all of the people that work there came over to comment on her behaviour. I was one proud mama!!!!

This is how Jason got her dressed for the evening...and the little model at work:)

Saturday we packed up a picnic and headed out to Wasaga for the morning.

We had some lunch

Played on the beach

And even ate some sand:)

The kids humoured us with a few poses for the camera.....notice all the loving headlocks and death grips

On Sunday morning I slept in until...are you ready...8:00a.m.!!!!!!!! It was so nice!!!!! The four us then headed out for brunch and to the park. here are our little monkey's 'posing' for the camera.

Why is so hard to get a picture of both of them???????

And of course.....the headlock:)

Special words

I have been writing down all of the funny phrases Riley and Simon say to us. Some of the things that come out of their mouths are priceless. Here are a few of the most recent quotes...

1. "Oh mommy, nice hair, you look so nice today" - Simon
2. " I'm a little sad mom, Katie and Lily are my friends, Laurel is my friend, Owen and Devyn are my friends, what about Bree? Is there still room?" - Riley
3. "Yeah Riley, you amazing" - Simon
4. This one is x-rated :) "Mommy girls have vaginas and boys have a penis, I like penis'" - Riley

Robins Nest

A robin has made a nest in our climber. The kids are both so excited about it, we go out to visit the eggs multiple times a day. We are sure to say good morning, have a good day, good night and have a few other conversations with the eggs daily. It will be really neat for the kids to watch the eggs hatch, a great learning experience!

Active Kids

Every Monday the kids and I join our good friends Nancy and Owen at the Rec Centre for a program called Active Kids. Here are some of the things our VERY active kids like to do...

Tea Anyone??

Check out this new gadget for making tea.

I went to a tea party on Sunday and had the chance to relax with some of the best tea ever. Thanks Christine!

Saturday

On Saturday we all headed down to Toronto to meet up with some friends. We met at the Royal York Hotel as that is where Colin, Tonja and Annah stayed. Kate , Pete and Bree came down as well. We let the kids run and chase in the lower level of the hotel, they had a great time...and we are sure the hotel guests loved it too:) We headed out to the Old Spaghetti factory for some dinner and then back to the hotel for some good old games of chase.

Simon's hair cut

Jason is known by some friends as 'fluff' because of his crazy fluffy hair....well Simon got that same hair, fluffy. On Friday we went to get some of the fluff tamed. He sat in the airplane chair, watched Backyardigins on T.V. and said "no lady, don't cut my hair" the entire time. Here is the handsome boy after the cut...
