Naturopath...my new best friend.

Cooper continued to suffer through the week. He continued to bleed. I was sick to my stomach each time I got him out of his crib and saw this...

He was on Advil and codeine every four hours. The codeine was causing other problems in his little body. There had to be something else we can for him.

I booked at an appointment at a Naturopath, hopefully she could help. Luckily, there is a Naturopath in Barrie whom I grew up with in Welland. It was the most pleasurable medical appointment I have ever experienced. She spent an hour and a half with us. Asking questions, interacting with Cooper, explaining everything, teaching me. She examined Coop and he giggled. Not a tear was shed the entire appointment. She answered questions I had about Riley and Simon as well. I am not sure I will go back to my family doctor again, unless there is an injury. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

She suggested I pick up a variety of homeopathic remedies to help him heal and to help boost his immune system. We started all of the remedies as soon as we got home and within 24 hours his face ulcers started to heal, he started eating, he started drinking, he started going to the washroom, he was happy go lucky, run with Riley and Simon, climb everything in sight Cooper. Our baby is back.

And we are SO happy he is.

She is...

She is a star.
She is amazing.
She is graceful.
She is beautiful.
She is brave.

She made good friends...and scheduled many play dates.
That made her excited.

She danced her heart out on stage.
That made me cry.

She curtsied several times during the finale.
That made everyone laugh.

She said goodbye to Miss Carol. Thank you Miss Carol for giving Riley the love of dance. Enjoy your retirement and your adventure of sailing around the world.
That makes me sad.

She was showered with flowers and cookie bouquets.
That made her smile.

She asked us to sign her up for ballet again.
That makes me smile.

Virus, Virus, Chicken Pox....

Oral Gingivostomatitis.

This started for us over a week ago. It has been a really hard, long week. Cooper started with a fever. He had the fever for a couple of days and it wasn't breaking so we went to see our family doctor. We were told it was a virus.

Fever persisted, acne like spots came out. Cooper was miserable. Completely miserable. Wouldn't eat much, wouldn't drink much. Back to the doctor, virus...of course.

Acne like spots began to change to mosquito bite looking spots, Coop was extremely uncomfortable. He cried all the time (not like him), he wouldn't let me more than a foot away from him (not like him), wouldn't let anyone else near him (not like him). Back to the doctor, this time we were told it was chicken pox. There is nothing we can do for him but ride it out.

Screaming, crying, needy, not eating or drinking. Spots seem to worsen.

Then Saturday came, Jason is at the cottage for the morning, Riley's dance recital is in the afternoon, we have a house showing at 2:00. Cooper wakes up from his nap with a pool of blood around his head. The blood is coming form his mouth. I FREAK OUT!!! Jason gets home and takes him to the hospital. I get Riley ready for her recital, Simon ready to go and clean the house. I am still in my P.J's vacuuming at 1:50. I quickly get ready, run out the door, jump in the car and drive out of my driveway. Not even a minute later the people are in our driveway to see our house.

Riley gets to the theatre on time. Simon is happy it's raining and the worms are out. Cooper has been diagnosed with Oral Gingivostomatitis. To put it simply he has cold sore like ulcers on his face and all over his mucus membranes. His throat is covered in them, that's what was bleeding. It is extremely painful. He is on advil and codeine every four hours....most of the time this is not enough. We are in for about another week of this. He is eating popsicles, ice cream and yogurt. Little of anything else. HE IS MISERABLE!!!!! IT IS EXTREMELY CONTAGIOUS.

Now the guilt, the utter and complete guilt. The sleepless nights guilt. The cry multiple times a day guilt. He got it from me. ME. I had a cold sore a couple of weeks back. He got it from ME. To add to this guilt. He suffered, badly, for a week as we listened to our family doctor. He suffered, we didn't do anything for him. We didn't know.

I am sorry. So very sorry.

Staging Rehersal

Friday night was Riley's staging rehersal at Georgian Collage. She was so excited to be up on that stage...and so was her mom.

Move over Paris Hilton......

here comes Riley Hubbard and HER dog purse..

Beach Day

Last week with all the beautiful weather the kids and I spent a morning on the beach....by ourselves.

We had a fantastic time making mud pies

Drawing our names in the sand

Making sand castles

Watching the waves

And throwing sand into the water

Cooper had his first experience with the sand on his toes....in his hair, in his diaper....and in other unmentionable areas.

Rainy Cottage Days

We spent last weekend at the cottage.

It rained all weekend.

So we had lots of indoor fun.

Colouring,

building forts,

making cookies and dipping them in our milk,

having pillow fights,

enjoying indoor picnics.

Cooper had a fever for the ENTIRE weekend. He spent a lot of time snuggling and falling asleep mid play session.

Riley and Simon headed out in the rain to catch rain drops on their tongues.

It did stop raining briefly on Sunday so we took the opportunity to "look at the beautiful nature."

I also attempted a photo of the three of them....no luck...again.

Calling All Reinforcements

We had to call in the big guns to get our lawn ready for house showings.

Little Readers

Riley is a fantastic reader. I never would have thought that in JK she would be reading at such a high level (the teacher in me just came out, sorry). Since Riley reads to us each night, Simon, of course, wanted to get into the action. I borrowed a bunch of alphabet books from my classroom and he sits and reads them all the time.

Our boys don't give us many quiet moments, so when they do, I rush to my camera to document them. Then, in their crazy moments (all the time) I sit at my computer, rock back and forth and look through those few quiet moments photos I have. It's about the little things people, the little things.

When Coop's around.....

you just never know what you will find.....

That is my shoe, Newman's dog bowl and a face cloth in the washing machine.
