Nee Nee Sleepover and Collingwood Village

Nee Nee was up for a couple of days to be with the kids. They did some shopping and went to the indoor playground. On Friday night Riley and Nee Nee had a slumber party complete with T.V. and cake in bed. Simon started out the night with them too but slept in his own bed.

On Saturday morning while Jason was teaching his grade five literacy program my mom and I headed to Collingwood for the morning with the kids. We toured the village, went shopping, watched the skiiers, had Starbucks, rock jumped and ate taffy on snow.
Rock jumping

Mmm Starbucks!

Taffy

Riley found a hat that she liked and "needed it"...so she got it....and wouldn't take it off, not even for lunch.

Si Guy

Our little man is 21 months old already...time has just flown by. Jason and I were talking the other night of words that best describe him, here are some that we came up with. Smart, cuddly, cute, risk taker, inquisitive, athletic, funny, gentle, talkative, creative....he is a real little person now. He is in love with dinosaurs and has a large repertoire of dino names in his vocabulary...T-rex, stegosaurus, anklasaurus etc.. How many 21 month olds say "oh, no a blue tonged skink is coming, hide." He is blast to be with and makes us all laugh all the time. He has been starting to show interest in the potty and will sit on it and make the "pssss" sound with his mouth, it's pretty funny. One of our favourite things to do is sit back and watch Simon and Riley play together, the conversation is priceless. Some of our favourite phrases Simon uses are "Oh Yiley, your amazing," "a-a-a-a-awesome," "I so happy to see you," "look it, look it, look it." " Oh mommy, nice shirt, it's amazing," "I'm sad," "Why, because" and the list can go on. We are so proud of him!!!

Weekend

What a beautiful weekend!!! We are all so excited for this warm weather that we spent most of it outside. We played with neighbours, flew kites, Riley rode her bike all the way around the block, drove cars, played with chalk, played in "our playground", and had all of our snacks outside.....

Saturday morning we played our new Wii game in our P.J.'s and rocked the house...

Sunday we headed out to Wasaga Beach to hang out for the morning and we...

Built bridges

Played chase

And wrote our names in the sand

It was a great morning!! We headed out for lunch then home for naps. We all need to get our rest as Monday's are busy with Active Kids in the morning and swimming lessons in the early evening.

A smile that melts my heart

Look at this face.....it melts my heart:)

Dance Class

Wednesday was Riley's first day at her dance class and I was so excited to be taking her. For those of you don't know, I was a dancer, started at age three and danced until I was 19 and I miss it like crazy. She was so cute and so proud of herself. She went in the room with the teacher without any tears and participated the entire time. Other children were crying and trying to run out of the room...I thought this would get her going too....but it didn't.......our girl is growing up:(

Before we left I had to have a little photo shoot. Here is our little dancer showing her stuff...

Rain Boots

The kids both got a new pair of rain boots and we just couldn't resist the huge puddle at the end of our driveway.

A First

Monday night the kids had their first swimming lesson for this session. We got lucky and both the kids swim at the same time. Simon is in Parent and Tot 2 and this week Jason swam with him. He did a great job kicking his feet and blowing bubbles. His favourite thing to do is chase the ducks around the pool. He once was very relaxed about floating on his back but this week he wasn't into it.

Riley is in Preschool A...a big step for us as she swims without us (sigh). She did a great job and there were no tears...not from her anyway. It was a funny (for lack of a better word) feeling for me to be sitting WAY up in the viewing area, feeling nevous, scared, proud, excited and worried all at the same time. It was strange to be watching and know that I had no control over the situation. It was scary to know that she was in a pool with someone who I don't know and who also has 3 other children to watch.... I know, I know I've been told today by a friend from work, I'll get over it.

When we were at home getting ready to go swimming Riley put on her bathing suit and said to me "take my pictures, I'm a model"...so of course I did

Don't know where she learned those poses from...Jason?

A work of art

It is so great to watch Riley go through the stages of development in her artwork. She drew us a happy face on the weekend, this time it included arms and legs (coming out of the eyes and mouth) ....too cute.

Sorry it is sideways...I can't get it to rotate.

Wiikend

We had a great Wiikend which included Jason coming home with a Wii....and a big smile. We spent some time playing this weekend and I have Wii arm and shoulder...I am off the Wii until I can lift my arm above my shoulder again:)

Simon also got in on the Wii action

Other weekend activites included.....

Painting

Baking

Pretending it's spring by blowing bubbles indoors

Driving the cars

To top the weekend off we went to see Horton Hears a Who at the movie theatre.

French and Spa Night

Riley once again has shocked us with what she is learning at school...she is able to sing Head and Shoulders in french...it's amazing. She learns french at her Montessori school and is able to say a few words in french. Daddy and Nee Nee also read to her in french at home. If I knew how to download video on her I would post her song for you...I wil try to figure it out...in my spare time:)

Riley and I decided that we were going to have a girls spa night, we had a hot bath, comb hair, cut nails and painted toe nails. I painted Riley's red and she painted mine purple.....the result....

I have until Monday's swimming lessons to try to remove all of the nail polish....wish me luck:)

Easter Part Two

After our Easter Brunch and Memere's 80th birthday celebration we headed to Torono to Jason's grandparents house for another party. The kids had not napped at all yet so we hoped that they would nap in the car....that didn't work out as planned... Riley missed her nap altogether and Simon fell asleep in my arms about 20 minutes before dinner was served. It was a nice visit with everyone, especially with G.G. 2 as he is recovering from an operation.

The kids love Jason's cousins Sara and Melissa and find many excuses to be close to them...this time it was for reading.

Riley and Simon received an Easter treat from Grandma and Grandpa which they called "Tower of Power."

Easter or Christmas????

Happy Easter! We have been having a great morning and it's only 8:00a.m. The Easter bunny found us at Nee Nee's house and it looked a lot like Christmas. The kids followed their Easter trails through the house and found gifts along the way. They found books, skipping ropes, kites, Dora's twins, dinosaurs and ocean animals and lots of chocolates. Nee Nee Easter bunny struck as well with some more chocolate and some summer clothes. We are off to brunch for Memere's 80th birthday and then to Toronto to see Jason's family at G.G. and G.G.2's house.
