The Solution....

I hate potty words. I find nothing funny about Simon saying poop or toot ten thousand times a day. Although, I do have to give him credit he is getting very creative with getting the potty words in like "Mama I have to go to the washroom to POOP," or "tooty-mcfruity," or my all time favourite he sings the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight and instead of singing the lyric "Ee-e-e-um-um-a-weh" he sings "bum-bum-bum-bum-all day."
I decided that I would ignore it. He liked getting a reaction out of me a little too much. BUT, there are places that it just can not be ignored, like the dinner table. So, I told him that if he uses potty words at the table, he goes and sits on the potty. He thought that was pretty funny until it happened....

He was completely mortified. He was even more mortified when I came to take his picture on the potty. Just wait until he is old enough to realize the picture and story is now on the internet. So far, we have had a poop, toot, burp, bum free table......at least for now.

Q.O.T.D.

I was tucking Simon into bed tonight and I was telling how proud I am of him and his many accomplishments at school.

Me: I am so proud of you Simon.

Simon: What are you proud of?

Me: I am proud of all the hard work you do at school.

Simon: But mom, are you beyond? Because I want you to be beyond proud.

Simon, I am BEYOND PROUD. Big time beyond.

Q.O.T.D.

We were all sitting down to have lunch at the cottage. Simon used a bathroom word at the table (I have discovered the solution to stop this behaviour in Simon....that story will come another time). Jason moved his food to the the living room coffee table explaining that he was not welcome at the table if he spoke like that. Simon began to cry and started to go through his normal upset routine...

Simon: My heart is broken.

Simon: My heart is bleeding.

Simon: I'm gonna cry forever.

Simon: My heart is broken forever.

None of these got the response he was looking for so he upped the ante.

Simon: Daddy, you made me feel like Jesus when he was on the cross.

We tried to contain our laughter, we were not successful. I like to call Jason Judas now, Jude for short.

Easter Saturday

That Easter Bunny is so smart. He decided to come to the cottage on Saturday morning to allow us to have our big Easter dinner on Saturday evening and eat the leftovers on Sunday and Monday before leaving the cottage. Way to think things through Easter Bunny.

The bunny trail is all set and ready to go

The bunnies get their ears on

And they're off

An attempt to get a photo of our three bunnies together

I'll settle for individual shots

Coop discovers there is something in his eggs

The egg hunt continues outside...the ones the animals didn't eat anyway

Chocolate for breakfast

The scariest bunny shaped pancakes EVER

Time to colour eggs

The egg pose down

The rest of the day was spent play outside

and working

Easter dinner was served on the deck

And you thought my bunny pancakes were scary check out these cupcakes

We started the day with a sugar rush, why not end it the same way....marshmallows

Hope everyone had as great of an Easter as we did.

It sure was a Good Friday!

We spent a glorious Good Friday playing at the park, going for a walk to the locks and having a picnic in the grass. The thermometer at the cottage read 31 degrees and it's April 2nd.

The park....in shorts!

The locks. The lack of photos of Simon is because I had the camera and he was wrapped around my neck in fear as we walked over the bridges.

Our picnic lunch

On the way back to cottage we stopped and bought some popsicles. Simon fell asleep in the car and Riley and Cooper enjoyed their first popsicle of the season on the deck.

The rest of the day was filled with....

crayfish catching,

snacking,

rock climbing,

having indepth conversations....or working on the "th" sound,

going into the freezing cold water,

and having our nightly dance party to Taylor Swifts "You Belong To Me," Black Eyed Peas "Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night," and The Beattles.

A perfect ending to a perfect day.
