A GREAT START

Jason and I have been discussing for a few weeks now the idea of buying material objects for our kids at the end of the school year. It seems like 'everyone is doing it' but we weren't so sure we wanted to. We never would attach anything to achievement, but do you buy something to simply celebrate the end of a school year?

Growing up I did get year end gifts, they were not attached to any grades, lord knows if they were I would have never gotten anything and my brother would have been showered with gifts. Jason can not recall getting anything at the end of a school year. Which school of thought would we subscribe too? The debate went on, and on, and on.

We decided that we would take the kids somewhere as a family to celebrate their hard work all year. We would not buy them anything. This year we went to Santa's Village. Jason nor I have ever been there so we really didn't know what to expect and were we ever pleased. It is a fantastic place to take young children like ours. We had an amazing day.

Starting off with taking the Elf Pledge.

Wearing the goofy elf hats all day long...and all night long...and the next day too.

Posing for funny pictures.

Feeding the reindeer.

Going on rides. The park was pretty empty so we actually got to stay on rides and go again. Simon rode the roller coaster five times, both kids rode the drop zone five times, Cooper rode the merry-go-round at least a thousand times....

We meet Santa and the Mrs.

and one of us was not too happy about it.

Watched and participated in the Ronno Show.

Had a picnic by the fountains.

Climbed and slide our way through Elf Island.

Went to the beach.

We finished the night off at home watching our communities fireworks

and doing sparklers, being careful not to hold the side on fire.

What a great day! We and our three little elves are off to the cottage until Monday. Here's to hoping the rest of our summer vacation is this fun!
