8th Birthday Eve

In true Nee Nee fashion she couldn't wait to give Riley one of her birthday gifts.  The new bike ended up being a birthday eve present.  Riley was beyond thrilled.

Freezing temperatures and snow wasn't going to hold this girl back.

Once everyone came inside we made Riley's birthday cake.

We, or should I say I, decided to make a torte.  Oh boy, I'm glad I did, it was so yummy!

Dance, Dance, Dance!!!

Simon has learned his recital dance and received his costume.  He is done with dance after this year,  it's not the gangsta hip hop that he was looking for.  We are proud of him for sticking it out until the end and are looking forward to his moment on stage.

Cooper Date

With all the energy we have been spending on Riley with her competitions we wanted to be sure we were equal opportunity parents.  Jason took Simon to the movies to see Wreck It Ralph and I took Coop on a date.

We started the date out looking at reptiles.

And ended the date with cupcakes.

Dance Competitons

Riley has competed in her first two dance competitions this season.  The first one was in Richmond Hill at the Richmond Hill Centre For The Performing Arts. The second one was at Barrie Central.  Her dance team did extremely well bringing home an award for every dance including diamond awards, platinum awards and first over all.

You may notice her eyes look very swollen in the last picture.  Well, they were.  In true go big or go home fashion, Riley reacted to the eye lash glue.  We assume that there was gluten in the brand that I used.  Who knew adhesive was something else we had to watch out for, no more licking envelopes for this little girl.   Just to make sure she was going big enough, she rubbed her sore eyes while the eye lashes were still on and sliced her cornea down 3 levels.  That cut turned into an ulcered cornea.  Thankfully, she was quickly taken care of and the eye healed up without any other issues.

We have two more exciting competitions to go this dance season.  Buffalo here we come.

Girls Nights Out

I have been lucky enough to have had several nights out with my girls lately.

Teacher

Happy Valentines Day

Let's first start by talking about Pinterest. I LOVE Pinterest. I get so many good ideas for home and for school off of Pinterest. I am pretty good at trying the things I pin. I saw this idea of filling your child's room with heart shaped balloons for the morning they wake up on Valentines Day. Great idea right?

Off to the dollar store I went. I bought 150 heart shaped balloons. Once the kids went to bed I started blowing up the balloons. It was then that I realized, this is NOT a good idea. Blowing up 150 balloons with my mouth....BAD IDEA. But, I stuck with it. After wanting to pass out several times, it was done. This is where mistake number 2 comes in, 150 balloons spread into three good sized bedrooms, does not achieve the effect I was going for. I needed many, many more balloons to make this idea Pinterest lovely.

The kids loved it. That's all that really mattered. I did not love the fact that I woke up with a huge thing on my lip. I assume it was from the 150 balloons, made in china that I blew up.

They enjoyed some heart shaped pancakes for breakfast.

Dressed for their respective classroom celebrations.

Brought their teachers Pinterest inspired Valentines gifts

Came home from school to a Valentines dinner with heart shaped pizza's and Valentines surprises before we headed off to the nights activities.
