Camp Fire

We had our first camp fire of the season tonight.

Putting out the fire with our new water squirters.

Happy Birthday Katie!

Our friend Katie is turning four! We were all lucky enough to be invited to a birthday party at her grandparents house in Midhurst. We had a great time.

We played with water squirters

Water balloons

Danced to the one and only Drew Parker singing Mouse Cookies.

Went for a paddle boat ride.

And even napped under a tree.

Thanks for including us in your special day.

Dress Up

Playing dress up is an all time favourite activity in our house. Simon was playing "spooky restaurant."

He thought Cooper should join in on the fun.

YEAH!!!!

I have been waiting a long time for the opportunity to use this bib...

Friendship

On Thursday my friend Paula and her two sweet girls Analise and Abby came for a visit. Paula, Chris and the girls are currently living in New Jersey but have been visiting in Canada for the week. Paula is a great friend from high school who moved from Welland to Waterloo before the end of high school. Over the years we lost touch but have recently been back in contact with each other. Thursday was the first time we have seen each other in ten plus years. You know you have a real friendship when the ten years that have passed without contact means nothing and you easily fall back in step with each other, it's like we haven't missed a beat. It was wonderful to be with you again Paula. Your girls are amazing like you.

Some photos of the gang

We are in so much trouble!!!!!

Riley got a new bathing suit the other day and did a little pose down for the camera.

After her little modelling session off she went to comb her hair.

We better get ourselves a big bat.

DN

Riley was working away today in one of her 'notebooks'. She was making a pattern and at the end of the pattern she wrote the letters DN. Our conversation went like this:

Riley: Look at my pattern

Me: Great A B pattern. What does DN mean?

Riley: I wrote it there because it's DN (the end) of the pattern.

DN of story.

Happy Canada Day!

The evening of Canada Day was spent in our little town of Phelpston at the ball diamond eating hot dogs, getting temporary tattoos, jumping in jumping castles, playing with friends, listening to the band and watching firecrackers.

We actually came back to our house to watch the "firecracks" as Simon calls them. That way Cooper could go to bed and Ri and Si could be in their P.J.'s and go straight to bed when they were done.

Hope everyone had a great Canada Day!

Rice Cereal

On Canada Day Cooper had his first taste of rice cereal.

This is his what is in my mouth face....

It didn't take him long to start pushing my hand into his mouth and taking the spoon from me

Here's hoping that the cereal will sustain him better then I can and I will get more then one hour sleep at a time .

Cross another thing off of my life list...

I did it! I ran the Canada Day 5 K in Barrie. I started training in April following the couch potato to 5 k program. My goal was to to run three times a week....that didn't happen. I trained as much as possible for me and my family. I actually didn't run once in the two weeks leading up to the race...oops! My goal was to complete the race, not come in last and if possible complete in under 35 minutes. My finish time was 36:48 and I finished 167th out of 280 people.

The best part of the race was hearing Riley and Simon yelling "go mommy, go" as I was approaching the finish line. I am searching for my next 5k to race before our 'travel season' starts at the end of this month. It is my hope to be able to run a 10 k in the nearish (is that a word?) future.

The start line

And we are off....

Coming into the finish line, waving at my babies

All done!!! The specimen you see behind me won the 5 k in 16 minutes....now that's fast!

Worth getting the kids out of bed for...

Shortly after getting Riley and Simon snuggled into bed for the night we saw this beautiful rainbow. It was actually a double rainbow that was visible from one end to the next...what a treat. Jason rushed upstairs and got Riley and Simon back out of bed to have a look.
