Icecream Cones Cupcakes

The kids and I tried to make these icecream cone cupcakes together. I didn't have much hope for them but they turned out really cute.

Last Swimming Class

Monday night was the kids last swimming class for this session. Parents are allowed on the pool deck to take pictures for the last class. We were very lucky with having the same time slot for both of the kids in their proper classes. Riley swims on her own and Jason goes in the pool with Simon. Both kids did a great job and have been recommended to go into the next level. Simon has been recommended to the level without parents....YIKES.

We Did It!!!!

We all managed to survive the weekend without a single meltdown....from any of us. Jason was asked to be part of the selection team for the National Beach Team. What this means is he was one of 4 people deciding who gets funding from Volleyball Canada. Volleyball Canada put our family up at the Holiday Inn Yorkdale for the weekend. Jason was gone for most of the weekend but the kids and I stayed very busy.

On Friday night we headed down to the pool and to play a little tennis.

Also on Friday night, our friend Moira came to the hotel for a visit. We ordered room service and hung out together while Jason was at his first meeting. Moira spoils Riley and Simon and always comes with gifts. Thank you very much for the sweaters, hat and mitts. You will see from the photos that they loved them and asked to wear it everyday.

Saturday, the kids and I dropped Jason off at Beach Blast for 8:00a.m. then we headed back to Barrie to go to Riley and Simon's friend Owen's 4th Birthday Party. It was a great party filled with lots of fun and games...of course I left my camera at the hotel. Thank you for including us in your special day Owen.
After the party we drove back down to Toronto and meet Jason at the Rain Forest Cafe for an early dinner. Simon LOVES it there and has been asking to go for a while. I am not sure why we waste our money ordering him any food because he never touches it. He is way to busy watching the action and doing his gorilla impressions.

Here's the gorilla.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel for another swim before Jason had to head out for the evening. Simon decided that he didn't need any help swimming and off he went. It was unbelievable to watch him swimming with his life jacket on...no help needed. Those little arms and legs move a million miles an hour.

Sunday morning brought on exhaustion for the three of us so we decided to lounge around the hotel room and to go swimming while Jason was gone. Riley was not going to be out done by her little brother in the swimming department so off she went.

Simon was off and swimming by himself and pretending to be a sloth.

We had a late check out arranged so the kids spent some time playing leapfrog down the hallway.

After checking out at 2:00 and dropping Jason off for his last session the kids and I ventured out to a place called Balls of Fun....I know not the best name. I had seen it advertised in a couple of parent magazines over the years and have wanted to go. We had about 5 hours to kill so off we went. The kids had a great time playing with all of the balls and going down the bumpy slide.

By 5:30 we were all done. Simon has only napped in the van for the past 3 days and still continued on his 5:00a.m. wake up.

We headed back to Beach Blast and played in the sand until Jason was done at 7:00. It was a great weekend, we are all exhausted. Tomorrow will be a quiet day at home, unpacking, doing laundry and napping before our last swimming lesson for this session.

Christmas Photos

Today we took the kids to get their photos taken for Christmas. Before we left home I tried to get a few good shots....not so lucky.

Our photographer had much more success...too much success...it took us over an hour to go through the photos and to pick the ones we wanted. Here is our favourite.

Equal Opportunity Bragging

A couple of posts ago I spent some time bragging about Riley and her printing. No for Simon...

He has been trying to print his name. We are impressed with the result. Keep in mind he is only 2 years old....2 1/2 in January. I printed the letters under his to make it clearer for this blog.

School Photos

Riley and Simon's school photos came in today. I love looking at school photos because you never know what you are going to get...there are no mommies there making sure they smile just right.

Of course, ours are gorgeous :-) Simon's is my favourite....look at the expression and the little arms folded, priceless.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner...

Last night my mom and I met in Toronto to see the theatre production of Dirty Dancing. It was AMAZING!!!! It is one of my all time favourite movies and it was just as good live. Of course, the best line is "Nobody puts baby in a corner," and I certainly could not rsist spending an insane amount of money on a baby bib with the quote on it. I assure you our baby will not wear this bib while eatting it's for show only....I know....not so practical.

After the show we went for a yummy dinner at a resterant called Urban. It was a great night out with my mommy-o. Thanks for a great birthday present!!!

When it rains, it pours!!!!

My poor family has gone through a lot of heartache in the past couple of years and it sure hasn't slowed down any lately. Starting with my aunt who got West Nile Encephalitis....yes, from a bug bite....yes, it can happen to you too. The next was my uncle who was diagnosed with cancer, my other uncle passed very suddenly from a massive heart attack last year. Most recently my grandma was admitted into the hospital and has never come out nor will she ever come out, she has been diagnosed with Chronic Heart Failure. To continue on with this new family trend my mother's husband has been diagnosed with stage three cancer in his lymph channels. This diagnosis is fairly new so they are still under going CT scans, MRI's etc... to determine the rate of growth. Unfortunately, no doctor in the Niagara region is equipped to deal with his severe case so they are going back and forth to Hamilton 3-4times a week to complete all of his testing. All tests are supposed to be completed by December 9th and he has an appointment to discuss his options...hmmmmm...not sure I like that word options????

Bragging

Riley is so into printing letters and words right now. This is what she did today when I was cleaning up from lunch.

This kid will ready for Jk in September. We are so proud of you Riley!!!

Dinner For Eight

Jason and I went to a dinner party on Saturday night at a good friends house. It was a great dinner....made by a private chef I might add. The night was fantastic....lots of food, drink, laughs, Wii playing, Karaoke etc.... I had hoped to post a few photos on here but....I wont....they are way to incriminating for everyone involved....what happens at dinner for eight, stays at dinner for eight.

One I will post, just for you Jason, is the way the night ended.....

Christmas Presents

The kids and I went to a place in Barrie called Creative Cafe to make a Christmas presents for Uncle Ryan and Aunt Hillary. The kids had a blast creating and the end product is pretty cute...if I do say so myself.

Sorry no photos of the finished product....we can't give too much away to Uncle Ryan and Aunt Hillary.
