Day Six - Goodbye Crystal Mountain, Hello Whidby Island

On the sixth day of our trip we sadly departed Crystal Mountain to happily go to Whidby Island. Hillary's family has a cottage right on the ocean. We were all looking forward to spending some quiet time together.

We drove about 3 hours from Crystal and then boarded a ferry for a very short ride.

After the ferry it was about another 45 minutes of driving and we ended up in a little peice of paradise. We headed straight down to the beach and Simon went wild...CRABS!!!!!!! He ran around collecting crabs...dead crabs... for his "crab collection." We didn't have the heart YET to tell him that there was no way we are taking dead crabs home with us.

Riley went straight to work collecting shells.

We went for a walk along the beach stopping to collect crabs, shells, throw stones into the water and for a few photos.

After our walk Riley started to complain of some pain in her hands, feet and knees. We took a closer look and noticed that she was having an allergic reaction. Her feet, knees, hands and lips were swollen up and red. Her body was covered in hives the size of a loonie or bigger. The hives started to move onto her face. We have no idea what caused this...jellyfish? shellfish? seaweed? We put her into the bath and this provided relief for her.

Hillary and Cooper had a deep conversation while Riley was in the bath and dinner was on the BBQ.

After some good food out on the kayaks we went.

Hillary read Riley and Simon their bedtime stories before we all settled in for the night.
